How Rezūm Works
Before
An enlarged prostate can squeeze the urethra, making it difficult to pass urine from the bladder.
During
During each 9-second Rezūm treatment, steam is released into the prostate to shrink the excess tissue that is pressing on the urethra.
After
As your body heals and the extra tissue is gone, the urethra opens and urine can flow freely.

What you can expect with Rezūm:
- A healthcare provider will numb the area before the procedure to reduce discomfort.
- The instrument goes through your urethra, so you won’t have incisions or need stitches.
- Dr. Peters will inject the water vapor or steam into the targeted prostate tissue.
- The steam will start to destroy cells and break apart legions.
- The urinary channel is now free to open once the legions are gone
- Each individual treatment takes about 10 seconds. Up to 15 treatments can be given during one procedure.
- Dr. Peters will determine the number of treatments you need based on the size of your prostate.
